Meet Doretta Gaudreau
Doretta serves as Athletic Lab’s Director of Healthy Living where she is responsible for managing the Nutritional and Healthy Living Challenges. She is a graduate of the Nutrition Science program at North Carolina State University. She has Masters in Food and Nutrition Science from Meredith College and will be taking the national registry exam to become a Registered Dietitian shortly.
Originally from East Hartford, CT, Doretta moved to NC after graduating high school in 2002 to pursue a career in riding and working with horses. Focusing mainly on the discipline of Three Day Eventing, she had the opportunity to ride and work with some of the best riders in the country. She improved not only her riding skills, but also learned how to manage and maintain the equine athlete at the highest level of competition. She has travelled around the east coast and in Europe grooming at some of the biggest three day events in the world. Most notably, in 2006, she travelled as a groom with the US Three Day Event Team to the World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany. Working with elite horses and riders, Doretta learned the importance of proper nutrition for both the human and equine athlete. In 2009, Doretta decided to pursue a career in the field of nutrition.
Doretta has always been physically active. Growing up, she participated in various team sports. She currently participates in CrossFit and she is an avid runner. She has completed multiple full marathons and half marathons and several sprint triathlons.
