Meet John Evans


John is a Sports Performance Coach and Assistant Director of Content at Athletic Lab. John earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Slippery Rock University, and his Masters of Science degree in Sport Science from Northern Michigan University. During his time at Northern Michigan University, John coached the NMU women’s track team as a combined events/jumps coach. While at NMU, John also spent 18 months learning from Olympic Training Site Weightlifting coach, Vance Newgard.

In addition to these learning opportunities, John has mentored over 1200 hours assisting Owner and Director of Athletic Lab, Mike Young. This includes having twice completed the coaching mentorship program and assisting with data collection at the 2016 USA Track and Field Olympic Trials.

During the summer of 2016, John completed a 13 week internship under elite coaches, Dan Pfaff and Stu McMillan with the ALTIS track club. The coaches at ALTIS boast 1 World Record Holder (Aries Merritt), Olympic and World medalists (Andre De Grasse, Greg Rutherford, Mitchell Watt, Fabrice Lapiere), and numerous Olympians (Wilfred Koffi, Jeremy Dodson, Ella Nelson, Jahvid Best).
John holds USATF and USAW Level 1 certifications.
