Olympic Weightlifting at Athletic Lab

We recently held one of the largest USA Weightlifting coaches certification courses in the history of the program. Seventy people turned out to learn how to coach and perform the Olympic Lifts. The Olympic lifts are both a training tool and a sport unto themselves (they’ve been contest at the Olympics since 1896). They are a great means of developing coordination, strength, power and flexibility. Athletic Lab has had a USA Weightlifting club for over a year that holds training sessions twice a week at 7pm. If you’re interested in learning the movements and / or training with our Olympic weightlifting club you can register HERE. For current members of our Scholastic training program or CrossFit / Performance Fitness programs that are interested please contact a staff member. Members with monthly unlimited plans are eligible to attend at no additional cost if they test out on basic lifting competencies.

I had no idea that the Olympic lifts are both a training tool and a sport unto themselves and that they’ve been contest at the Olympics since 1896. Thanks for sharing with us all these.

What exactly are olympic lifts? Just the type of lifts that are done at the olympics or what?
