USA Weightlifting has recognized Athletic Lab as an official USA Weightlifting Club. We are only the 4th club to be recognized in the state of North Carolina and the second in the greater Triangle area. Olympic weightlifting is a sport in which athletes compete in two lifts: the clean and jerk and the snatch. Participants attempt a maximum weight single lift of a barbell loaded with weight plates in these two lifts. Competing in the sport of weightlifting requires strength, speed, skill, flexibility and coordination. Additionally, training with the Olympic lifts can be very beneficial for the athletic development of athletes competing in a variety of sports. We will be organizing weightlifting practice sessions shortly. Stay tuned for details.
In recent weeks Athletic Lab trained athletes have proven they are among the best in the nation. Only 3 weeks ago, sprinter Alie Israel placed 6th in the women’s 60 meter dash at the USA Track & Field Indoor National Championships in Albuquerque, NM; a week later, John Strang and Eric Broadbent placed 5th and 6th in the heptathlon at the USA Track & Field Indoor National Combined Event Championships in Bloomington, IN; and this past weekend, Clay Jones and Cassie Crawford were among the best high school athletes in the nation at the Nike Indoor National Championships. Cassie placed 10th in the pole vault and Clay took 16th in the pentathlon. Add to this, the Carolina Railhawks, who are undefeated in the preseason and among the preseason favorites in the NASL. If you want the absolute best in sport performance training Athletic Lab is your only choice.
