The Athletic Lab community is made up of an incredibly diverse group of goal-oriented and hard-working individuals. Each month we highlight one (or more) of our members in our member of the month feature. For the month of June, we’ve chosen brothers Rohan and Rahul Sachdev. Both brothers are long time members of our Scholastic Sports Performance program and standouts both on the tennis court and in the classroom. Check out the video about the Sachdev brothers and read about their accomplishments below. You can also check out our previous members of the month here.
Rahul was recently nominated by his school for the “Student Spotlight of the Year Award.” This is a special award given to just one student from each school for excellence in studies and other achievements. Rahul is a high A student in every subject. He participated in Math Counts and Science Olympiad and won awards in the competition. Rahul won the 2018 PAGE of Wake County Spelling Bee held in March, earning an all-expense paid trip to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. Rahul beat 90 spellers from public, private, parochial, magnet, home and charter schools in a spellathon. This will be Rahul’s second invitation to participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Rahul makes just as much of a mark as a tennis player ranking as high as 13th in the nation.
Rohan is Rahul’s older brother. Rohan’s high school tennis team recently won the N.C. High School Athletic Association Men’s 4A dual-team boys tennis state championship. His team captured their first state tennis crown, dethroning Charlotte’s Myers Park 5-1 to end the year undefeated at 20-0. Rohan played line 1 and was chosen as the Most Valuable Player for the tournament. We previously featured Rohan’s success as a student and at the Scripps National Spelling Bee HERE.
