For the month of September, we’ve chosen Tony Crabtree. Tony is a long time private training client at Athletic Lab. You can also check out our previous members of the month here.
Where were you born? North Carolina
What do you do when you’re not working out at Athletic Lab (occupation, hobbies, etc)?
I own Giant Development. We develop residential neighborhoods. We have about 150 employees and we have been in business 16 years. When I am not at work, I like to spend time with my 5 kids, coaching and driving them to practice. I like to read, go to mass, spending time in the pool with Mia and Charlie, shooting hoops, smoking cigars, and Sunday dinners.
What’s your favorite exercise? Least favorite? My favorite exercises are bench press and dead lift. My least favorite are Z carries and anything cardio.
What do you feel has been your greatest accomplishment since you started training at Athletic Lab? My biggest accomplishment is to keep coming on a weekly basis. I have lots of injuries. I need a hip replacement, torn rotator cuff, three ruptured discs, and a torn meniscus. But because of Matt’s ability to work around my injuries and build up the muscles to support those injuries, I am able to continue to train. Nowhere else would I be capable of doing this.
What motivates you? My family is my biggest motivation. I am someone’s father, husband, and son. Every time I step out of my home, I want to make them proud in everything that I do. That means working hard to be the best I can be and to compete against myself. I am my biggest detractor. Therefore, it pushes me to want to be better and better.
